Daniel Ongoto, an aspiring Member of the County Assembly (MCA) for Nyatieko Ward in Kisii County, has launched a community initiative to improve access to lighting among residents.

Speaking to African Spotlight Network, Ongoto said the initiative would provide lighting systems to households to help residents during funerals, community gatherings and other occasions that require adequate lighting.

“This initiative is intended to respond to practical challenges facing residents while promoting community welfare through accessible lighting solutions,” he said.

Ongoto said the project was part of his efforts to address challenges affecting residents at the household and community level.

According to him, the initiative has seen lighting systems distributed to residents, with beneficiaries receiving the support as part of the program.

Ongoto said he would continue engaging residents across Nyatieko Ward and supporting initiatives aimed at improving their welfare as he seeks to represent the area in the 2027 General Election.
